The event will focus on fostering meaningful dialogue to promote an understanding of the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. The agenda will include a greeting from Mayor Gondek, a short film, panel discussion, call-to-action and accompanying resource fair.
Activities:
Film Screening: A screening of the film, “Struggling to Adapt: One Syrian Refugee Family’s Story” (20 minutes) by CBC The National features a look into a Syrian refugee family’s journey to adapt to life in Alberta, Canada.
Panel Discussion: A discussion (15 minutes) with subject matter experts from local support organizations, including:
